Nurse Assistant General Admission Requirements


1.  Submit a completed application for admission with the $35 application fee, and be accepted by Claredon College Health Center        to P.O. Box 221, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
 
2.  Submit official transcripts from high school or GED transcript with satisfactory scores, and college transcripts for all colleges
     that you have attended to Claredon College Health Center, P.O. Box 221, Vicksburg, MS 39180. Transcripts cannot be
     stamped “issued to student.”
 
3.  Satisfy one of the following categories for admission before qualifying to submit an application 1) minimum ACT score of 18
     (15 if taken before October 28, 1989) if entering college for the first time or 2) minimum ACT score of 16 to 17 (12 to 14
     ACT score if taken prior to October 28, 1989), 3) overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.00, and 4) 18 or higher composite on
     the ACT with an18 Reading subscore; a 17 Math subscore or have passed a 3-hour College Algebra or higher math course.
 
4.  Students must have access to a computer with internet connection for the Web-based programs and email that meets the
     minimum technology features, software and hardware systems configuration to complete course work online.
 
Note: Students with no ACT scores, or ACT scores below 18 (if taken prior to October 28, 1989) in reading are required to complete the COMPASS placement test or retake the ACT.

Applicants will receive notification by letter of their acceptance/denial to the program.


Program Requirements after Acceptance


  • Students who have received official acceptance to the Nursing Assistant Program must complete the following Health Documents:

  • Submit proof of a Physical Examination by a physician or nurse practitioner within six months of admission with a signed Health Assessment Physical Examination form verifying physical and mental health fitness.
 
  • Submit proof of the following items: 1) two Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccinations or positive MMR titer; 2) two Varicella (chicken pox) vaccinations or positive Varicella titer; 3) TB skin tests (two-step), negative skin test annually or negative chest x-ray) and 4) Hepatitis B Vaccine or signed declination statement.
 
  • Submit a Criminal Background Check when instructed to do so that is clear of felony charge(s). Note: Applicants with felony convictions are ineligible for admission to the program.
 
  • Submit a negative Drug and Alcohol Screen.
